Background
Tamar studied Neuroscience but found herself spending all her free time in the university art studios. When her chemistry professor introduced her to art conservation, she knew she had found her passion.Tamar has both an MA and MSc from University College London, UCL in Art Conservation for Archaeology and Museums. She worked at the Horniman Museum, the Science Museum, and lastly Tate for 10 years. She regularly lectured at both the Royal Academy of Art, London and Camberwell College of Art, London. She travelled extensively as a courier and has experience installing and working with teams globally. She has also worked with many contemporary artists on the conservation of their sculptures including Anish Kapoor, Ron Mueck, Mark Dion, Jeff Koons, and Richard Serra.
In 2017, she was a team member of NanoRestArt, a project examining the use of novel nano materials in the cleaning of modern and contemporary art which culminated in the successful treatment of a sculpture by Eva Hesse.
Tamar established a private conservation studio, TM Art Conservation in 2018, with studios in Houston and London. She has worked for many private clients as well as Galleries, Collections, Museums and Universities.
